What It Really Means to “Be Brave Enough to Suck at Something New”
Many people who teach about confidence and taking action toward your goals, including myself, promote the fact that you HAVE to take action in order to gain confidence about something.
And while that’s true, we often hear about the butterflies and rainbows that come afterward–you did it, you were brave, it wasn’t that scary, everything is awesome, etc.
What we DON’T hear often enough…is the reality that the first time we do something, it’s probably going to SUCK. It might be awful, enough to where we don’t ever want to try again!
OR…it could go like the story I’m sharing with you today. The first time I did this new thing (teaching a group exercise class), I was so pumped, so excited! And the thing is, class actually went really well! I had a couple of flubs, but people had fun, and I didn’t receive any negative feedback…
But instead of feeling happy and accomplished…emotionally, I felt like CRAP!!
And I found I wasn’t alone in that experience.
So listen in–you might have had a similar experience as far as the emotions go. And I wanna hear about it if you’re willing to share! Hop into the facebook group or DM me!
